India McCanse is a veteran nonprofit leader, serving Planned Parenthood, the American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters and other human service agencies for more than 20 years.
Since 2006, she has served the Restorative Justice Initiative at the Marquette University Law School – the only law school in the country that features this program. Working with law students, India leads the victim offender dialogue program for victims, families and offenders of severe and violent crimes. She trains community leaders and neighborhood residents in the central city of Milwaukee in restorative justice circles, community conferencing and offender re-entry programs.
India has nearly completed a Master’s degree in Divinity at Meadville Lombard Theological School and University of Chicago Divinity School and has studied Truth and Reconciliation Commissions widely. She works with retired Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice and distinguished Professor of Law, Janine Geske, an international figure in Restorative Justice.
